Elgin Hog Eye Festival 2011

Jakey with two of the "Sowpremes"

They put a pink boa on me to add some bling!

The Sowpremes arrived at the 24th Annual Hog Eye Festival in Elgin, TX. riding in on the back of Harley Davidson motorcycles! These gals can really sing!!

I made a lot of motorcycle balloons! The kids like having a choice of who is riding on it; a dog, a monkey, Mickey Mouse or Spiderman!

Personally I like the monkey on a motorcycle - I make great monkey sounds! :))
As my mother would say:
"Drives me bananas!"

I love working the home grown festivals in Elgin!

Old Pecan St. Spring Festival 2011

Did I say "spring"? I should have said summer!
Mother's Day hit 98 scorching degrees in downtown Austin.
Thank goodness for sunscreen and Gatorade...

The other clown at Pecan St. just looked at these 2 goofy guys weird when they asked him to make them "embarrassing" hats.
Doesn't stop Jakey!
A pink octopus & a neon flower hat ought to do the trick! LOL

Mom took the picture - sure wish she had gotten the bat that was perched on top of this kid's hat! Really made for a complete ensemble!! :-)

Okay. I admit Jakey wasn't the only colorful character at Pecan St.!!

These 3 siblings loved their hats!
I was given all of the flowers from the booth that is pictured behind them! The very talented vendor makes unique vases! Should have gotten one of them - all the flowers would only fit in this pitcher when I got them home!

A beautiful reminder of a very fun Old Pecan St. Festival!!

Santa Claus is even older than that!

How old is Santa Claus??

Pinatas!

These kids were having fun gathering the candy from the pinata!

A word about
pinatas...

Many moons
ago I worked a birthday party for a 3 year old boy. Mom got him a dinosaur pinata, since dinosaurs were his favorite thing at the time.
He loved and hugged on his new "toy" friend!

So, when all the kids at his birthday party started hitting his new friend with a baseball bat, he erupted in tears & there was no consoling him...

Since then I have always felt that inanimate objects make much better pinatas...

I like Star pinatas myself! :-))

Fun & Games!

Seriously.

Would you play Parcheesi with this guy?

Maybe if he stuck his tongue back in his mouth?

Well, I played with him...

SKUNKED him too!!

He claims I cheated though - using outdated rules written in the 1930's...

His eyes might pop out if he knew the game was created in 500 B.C.!!

LOL!!!

The Big Red Nose

Did you know that clowns love to garden?

That's because they love watching things grow - like Feet, Smiles & Big Red Noses!

The Big Red Nose in the picture is just about ready for use! Ha ha!!

NO, NO, Please DON'T throw it at Jakey!!

ACHOO!!

Now THAT was a juicy sneeze!!

4th of July Parade!

Okay. I think that the blue hair looks a little scary... ;-(
BUT it was the 4th of July, which kind of called for red, white & blue!
The kids didn't seem to mind at all - clowns are supposed to be somewhat strange.
Perhaps since my sidekick Fiona looked normal?

Elgin City Hall said it was the first time they had a clown in their 4th of July Parade.
There were lots of Cub Scouts and even The Statue of Liberty!

There was a program in Veteran's Park afterward, and had fun making balloon art for the kids!
Thank you Fiona for helping me!! :-))

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

It's all relative... :D

Colorful Characters / Ms. Ivie Flowers

Ms. Ivie checking out Jakey's set up

I LOVE chocolate brownies! Sweet, gooey, chocolaty and yummy!

Ms. Ivie Flowers gave me a bag of brownies she had made. She makes a lot of brownies, cakes, breads, cookies and even cans jams and jellies. How fun would it be to hang out in her kitchen and get to lick all the bowls!

Ms. Ivie sells her baked goods every Saturday in front of the Dollar General in Elgin to raise money for her church. I set up next to Ms. Ivie to make balloon art to raise money for
The Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund
. She thought I was quite the colorful character - I made a new friend in Ms. Ivie!

I made Ms. Ivie a flower on a stem in a heart balloon, and she wore it on her arm all day long! She knew a lot of the people that came by and took the time to chat with them all.

“How are you today?” she would ask…

So, I chimed in and would ask: “How are you today? Ms. Ivie and I are doing great! We’re sweet and we’re funny – guess which is which??
Ha-ha!! She’s the funny one!!”

pointing to Ms. Ivie. Then we would both giggle!

Remembering how sweet and tasty those brownies were on my tongue… Well, my sweet tooth knows where to go on Saturday mornings!!
